Police Seeks More Collaboration To Improve Security

The Nigerian Police says it will partner relevant stakeholders to improve security towards the protection of lives and property in the society.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Babaji Sunday gave the assurance when he received the Country Director of a Non Governmental Organization, Global Peace Foundation Nigeria, Reverend Joseph Hayab on a courtesy call in Abuja.

CP Sunday who was represented by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Rapid Response Squad, Aminu Garba commended the initiative of the global peace foundation whose campaigns he noted was tailored towards sensitizing the vulnerable groups mostly found at motor parks.

“Indeed this is a group that the police always want to partner with, because any where you hear the name peace, police is always there, by the constitution, we are empowered to have, peace in our communities and that actually this is the right and positive vanguard that we want to have in our community’’.

The Country Director, Global Peace foundation and CAN Chairman, Kaduna state Chapter, Reverend Joseph Hayab said their visit to the Police command was to sort for collaboration stressing that the organization was embarking on a massive awareness and sensitization campaign for drivers and passengers in motors parks across the states of the federation.

He said the sensitization campaign would also be extended to motorcycle riders popularly known as Okada, who where usually used as tools during election.

At the Jabbi motor park in Abuja where the campaign was officially flagged off, Reverend Hayab told officials of the park that peace was critical especially in the forthcoming general election, and called on them to be vanguards in the process since they come in contact with a large number of travellers on a daily bases.

Reverend Hayab said the Global Peace Foundation in collaboration with the Center for Peace Advocacy and Sustainable Development would also engage on massive mobilization of the Nigerian youths which constitute a larger percentage of the population to stay out of vices inimical to their wellbeing especially during the elections.

Responding, Chairman Beggar branch, Jabbi park, Ahmed Olaiya pledged their continuous consultations with the drivers and passengers not to get involved in any form of violence.

Hand flyers and t- shirts depicting the essence of global peace were distributed.
