FUW Matriculation: Parents Commend Management On Security

Parents of students studying at the Federal University Wukari in Taraba State have expressed confidence in the management of the institution and commended them for providing adequate security and conducive learning environment for their children.

They made the commendation while speaking to Radio Nigeria shortly after the closing ceremony of the eleventh 2021/2022 academic session matriculation of the university held in the state.

Parents who attended the matriculation ceremony of their children from various states , say what they saw in Wukari where the university is situated was different from what they have heard in terms of insecurity and described the area as peaceful compared to what was been speculated by some people.

They also commended the management of the university on infrastructural development.

In an interview , some of the students including the physically challenged expressed gratitude for being admitted into the university and described the environment as conducive to learning.

In an earlier address, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Jude Sammani Rabo informed the students that they were admitted based on quality guidelines and other requirements.

While advising the students to be of good behavior, and shun social vices such as cultism, drug abuse, examination misconduct and sexual harassment among others, Prof. Jude Rabo also assured them that the management of the institution has resolved to take their welfare and security with seriousness, especially now that the country is bedeviled with insecurity.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, to extend the sporting activities on the campus, the university has introduced sports for the physically challenged students with effect from the current academic session and will start with Table Tennis.

The university administrator who described sports as a unifying factor, noted that the introduction of sports for the physically challenged students was aimed at giving them a sense of belonging.

Our correspondent reports that the Vice-Chancellor’s football cup is currently ongoing at the university.

Meanwhile, out of 2,504 candidates, 2,310 students were matriculated.
