KDSG Urges Youths to Engage in Meaningful Ventures

Kaduna State Government has called on youths in the state to be responsible and committed towards achieving their future carriers.

Deputy Governor of the State, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe made the call during an interactive Session organised to commemorate the International Youth Day in Kaduna.

According to Dr Balarabe the Day is set aside by the international community to focus on issues related to youths and to celebrate the strengths of youths as partners in the global community.

She said Collaboration with all ages was important in confronting challenges and attaining the Sustainable Development Goals.

“This theme has extra significance for us in Africa where respect for age is part of our cultural. In many places and occasions, this cultural legacy is being exploited to oppressed young ones in our society, denying them among others.

Dr Hadiza Balarabe urged youths in the state to take advantage of it’s various well-equipped Community Skills’ Development Centres to acquire the needed skills for self employment.

The Deputy governor, also called on the youths to take advantage of Kaduna Entrepreneurship Start-up programmes such as KADSTEP, Kaduna State digital hub, KAD-ICT HUB to help their preparation for the digital economy that Kaduna state is entering.

According to her, intergenerational collaboration is central to sustainable development, arguing that, Nigerian youths must take steps to help themselves.

“They must stop involving themselves in drugs and crimes for them to earn the respect of others if they wish intergenerational collaboration to be on equal standing. This is something that they themselves must accomplish”

Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, Hajiya Hafsat Baba called on the younger generation to learn from the older persons.

Hajiya Baba who urged the youth to always strive hard to be successful in life adding that, nothing good comes easy.

In a remark, Kaduna state coordinator Global Peace Development Mrs Chat Adamu stated that, the event was in commemoration this year International youth being the leader of tomorrow.

Mrs Adamu maintained that, this year’s theme, “Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages“, which stresses the power of collaborations across all generations.

She said it only through equitable intergenerational relations and partnerships that each generation or age bracket would have the opportunity to make contributions according to its ability.

The coordinator also said this would help to build a generation where the youth can stand on their feet and be good ambassadors of their country

In an interview ,one of the participants at the event Jelilat Abidoye and Abdulhalim Ringim stressed the need for
more interface with the government to contribute to the nations development.
