The Theatre Commander Joint Taskforce Operation Hadin Kai Major General Christopher Musa has inaugurated a special court martial to try 29 military personnel for professional misconduct. 

At a ceremony at Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri, Major General Musa said the special court martial was inaugurated to try over cases of the three dissolved courts that were inaugurated in October last year. 

Giving the breakdown of the cases, the Theatre Commander explained that the three courts disposed 227 cases, out of which 107 cases were recommended for summary trails while 120 cases were concluded. 

“We have imprisonment 30, dismissal from armed forces 4, loss of seniority 25, loss of pay 20, severe reprimand 17, discharged and acquitted 10, case struck off 14, recommended for summary trail 107. So the whole essence is to ensure justice ” General Musa said. 

According to Major General Musa, the trail process was painstakingly handled to ensure no person is shortchanged. 

He said all the recommendations have been forwarded to Nigerian Army headquarters and Army Council for approval.

Theatre Legal adviser who is also the judge advocate Squadron Leader Audu Satomi remarked that the 29 cases involved officers and soldiers serving in the Theatre. 

The special court martial is presided over by Brigedeir General Hamza Gambo.
