APC Presidential Primary, Most Competitive In Nigeria’s Democracy- PMB

President Muhammadu Buhari has described the just concluded presidential primary of the APC as one of the most competitive and peaceful in the history of Nigeria’s democracy.

In a letter addressed to Governor Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi State and Chairman, Progressive Governors’ Forum, the President commended the role he played in the success of the primary that produced the standard-bearer of the party in the 2023 elections, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He noted that Governor Bagudu’s commitment to the pursuit of equity and fairness spoke volumes in the cooperation displayed by APC Governors.

The President hoped that Governor Bagudu, whom he described as a patriotic APC member and stakeholder, would work with Asiwaju to win the 2023 elections.

He said In the past 7 years in government, the APC had achieved a lot, but that there were a lot more to do.

President Buhari said Asiwaju had the capacity to lead the APC party to success and appealed to members of the party to come together and march forward, as they did in 2015, to a convincing APC victory.

The President said he looked forward to working closely with APC Governors to support Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates to success in 2023.

Thank-you visit

Meanwhile, The APC Presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, has vowed to sustain President Buhari’s legacies when he wins the forthcoming election.

He stated this when he paid a thank-you visit to President Buhari.at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The presidential candidate, who was accompanied by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Mr Wale Tinubu, commended President Buhari for providing a level playing field for the process of selecting the party’s presidential candidate, recalling that he had promised many times that he would support the democratic process and he had proven that with the party’s presidential primary.

He said the President had honoured his pledge of building a legacy of transparency and consistency, a level playing ground for all the aspirants, and committed to democratic principles and values.

He reiterated that the President did not endorse anybody, nor impose anybody, or made an attempt to tinker with the process of the election to favour a particular tribe.

Bola Tinubu described the President as being steadfast, trustworthy, and a dependable leader.

Giving insight into his focus, he said he would hit the ground running the same day if sworn in, stressing that he would not mess up the legacy of progress and honesty handed over to him by President Buhari.

He however refused to tell newsmen the identity of his running mate.
