Taraba State Police Command has commenced the deployment of officers and men to various locations to ensure a smooth Sallah celebration across the state.
Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Sokoya, made this known in his office at the Command’s Headquarters in Jalingo while briefing newsmen on the current security situation in the state.
He said over 4000 officers and men would be stationed in the nook and crannies of the state.
Sokoya pointed out that the briefing was aimed at providing an update on the recent two explosions incidence that were witnessed at Iware in Ardo Kola LGA, as well as Nukai along Yola-Wukari road in Jalingo Local Government area respectively.
He said the deployment of the officers and men of the force was in line with the Inspector General of Police’s directives of ensuring violence-free celebration across the nation.
The CP noted that the command has recorded a lot of achievements in curbing crimes as according to him, “for quite some times now there has not been any case of kidnapping or violence within the state capital and beyond, a development he attributed to the synergy between the police and other sister agencies.
CP Abimbola Sokoya, however, recalled that on the 19th of April 2022 a bomb blast was witnessed at Iware that claimed eight lives and injured many, while on the 22nd of the same month another explosion was also recorded at Nukai where eleven persons were injured but no life was lost.
“Those that were injured as a result of the Nukai explosion were treated at our police clinic here in Jalingo and have already been discharged. I want to assure the residents of Taraba State that we will be rigid in our security architecture and we are soliciting cooperation from the citizens we are also urging them to always feed us with useful information that will help in curbing crimes in the society.” Said Sokoya.
CP Abimbala Sokoya who described Tarabans as peace-loving people further noted that they have been maintaining an appreciable synergy with the State government especially by executing a lot of its directives on various security matters including the enforcement of the ban on motorcycles, as well as stop and search of vehicles among others.
