A political pressure group, Fusion 774, has appealed to Nigerians to support its efforts in convincing the former Chief of Army Staff, General Yusuf Buratai to join the race to Aso Rock on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja, the Convener of the group, Mr Sadiq Jikta, explained that the challenges of security in the country called for a tested individual in the person of General Buratai to salvage the situation.

Mr Jikta said the development of other sectors were dependent on the success in addressing insecurity which the former Chief of the Army Staff had demonstrated the capacity to deal with.

He mentioned some of the outstanding achievements of General Buratai as Chief of the Army Staff including the liberation of areas occupied by Boko Haram insurgents, technically causing division within the ranks of ISWAP and Boko Haram to weaken their strength and the creation of additional Divisions as well as synergy amongst security agencies for effective coordination.

Mr Jikta maintained that if General Buratai was given the opportunity to serve as Nigeria’s President, unemployment, lack of youths participation in governance, decayed infrastructure and economic challenges would be on the top national agenda of the administration.

He, therefore, urged Nigerians to support a good cause to secure the future of the country where national unity would be the foundation for robust inclusion and sustainable development.

The Convener said the group was out to form a common front with Nigerians of like minds who shared the vision of a secured Nigerian where every citizen felt secure to drive development aspirations.

Mr Jikta said the group was willing to mobilise a hundred million naira to purchase the All Progressives Congress, APC presidential forms for General Buratai to contest.
