NBTE Advocates Viable Curriculum For Sustainable Industrialization

The federal government has been urged to ensure that the Polytechnic curriculum is designed to have links with the nation’s industrial needs .

The Zonal Director North Central of the National Board for Technical Education ,Dr Musa Koko made the call while speaking at the 2021-2024 Strategic Plan Critique workshop organised by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund in Collaboration with the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara state.

He said the expansion of the technical education should be done in line with needs of the country.

Dr Koko explained that the idea will enable the nation’s polytechnic produce quality manpower for industries and other areas of development.

He advocated for the collaboration of all stakeholders to develop a strategic plan for technical education to make it viable.

Dr Koko noted that quality programme should be operated in institutions of higher learning to enable it compete favourably with others.

In his address! a member of the Governing Council of the Polytechnic Offa , Segun Olawoyin advised the management of polytechnics to put in place a strategic plan that will be beneficial to the institution.

In her paper presentation entitled “Situational Analysis and Target”, the Dean Directorate of Research and Innovation, of the Federal Polytechnic Offa , Dr Korter Oluwatoyin said there is the need to strategise on getting female students into the sciences and non-sciences programmes to improve the workforce for a better economy and sustainable development.

Earlier in his address, the Acting Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Offa , Dr. Larongbe Afolabi represented by the Deputy Rector Academic, Augustine Adama said the design of a strategic plan will enable the Institutions adopt cost effective method to ensure success of its academic programmes.
