A Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Kubwa has overturned an interim injunction that prevented the All Progressive Congress, APC, from holding its planned national convention.

The interim order was issued in response to a lawsuit filed by a member of the party, Salisu Umoru.

Umoru had asked the court, among other things, to order the APC and its caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee Chairman, Governor Mai Mala Buni, to stop further action on the convention until the party’s legal cases were resolved.

He also requested an injunction requiring Buni to commence the reconciliation process in order to resolve all problems arising from the party’s local government congresses.

On the basis of an application, the court granted an interim order preventing the APC from holding the March 26 convention.

Dissatisfied with the order, the APC petitioned the court to have it overturned.

While granting the APC’s application, Justice Bello Kawu ruled that the Plaintiff lacked the locus to sustain the restraining order.

However, Justice Kawu postponed the Plaintiff’s substantive claim to the 30th of this month for a hearing.
