FRSC To Reduce Road Crashes by 15%

The Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC wants Unit Commanders to effectively utilize the available human and material resources towards achieving this year’s Fifteen Percent target reduction in Road Accidents.

FRSC Zonal Commanding Officer in charge of FCT and Niger States, Assistant Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed stated this during a One day retreat for all the Thirteen Unit Commanders and Sectional Heads in the FCT.

The Assistant Corps Marshal who commended the unit Commanders on judicious utilisation of available limited patrol vehicles and other logistics for traffic management also appealed to them to always ensure supervision and mentoring of junior officers to maintain the best sector command position in the Country.

He emphasized the need to strengthen collaboration with stakeholders, particularly sister security agencies in making the roads safer at all times.

Mohammed stressed that public awareness and advocacy campaigns in motor parks would be intensified to educate road users, particularly commercial drivers on the need to support efforts at reducing road traffic crashes by Fifteen Percent and fatality by Twenty percent.

The Zonal Commanding Officer in charge of FCT and Niger State gave assurance that FRSC would continue to complement the Federal Government’s huge investment in road rehabilitation and construction by making the road safer for economic development.

The FCT Sector Commander of FRSC, Mr Oga Ochi said the retreat with the theme Strategies for optimal performance in 2022 was to equip the unit Commanders with the on the task ahead.

The Sector Commander maintained that this year there would be regular training for effective traffic management in the six Area Councils of the Territory.

The Lugbe Unit Commander Mr Ohaeri Osondu while speaking on behalf of others was optimistic that the knowledge acquired would enhance FRSC Operations.
