The detained former Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Abba Kyari has been arraigned before the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

Docked alongside DCP Kyari are ACP Sunday Ubua, ASP Bawa James, Inspector Simon Agirgba, INSPR John Chibunna, Patrick Emeka, and Alphonsus Ezenwanne.

In the charge, the Federal Government alleged that DCP Abba Kyari, ACP, and other 5 police officers, on or about the 19th to 25th January, this year, at the office of Inspector-General of Police, IGP Intelligence Response Team, Abuja, conspired among themselves with ASP John Umoru (now at large) to deal in 17.55kilogrammes of cocaine and thereby committed an offense contrary to and punishable under section 14(b) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act, CAP N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.

Meanwhile, DCP Kyari and the other police officers charged with him have pleaded not guilty to the charge, while the 6th defendant, Patrick Emeka, and the 7th defendant, Alphonsus Ezenwanne pleaded guilty.

The judge, Justice Emeka Nwite, therefore, adjourned until the 14th of this month to hear the bail application.
