Two pregnant women in Niger state have given birth on a mountain while trying to escape bandits attack in their area.

The attack which took place in Kwimo community of Mariga local government councils has left the community in disarray running for safety.

According to an eye witness Usman Kwimo who spoke to Radio Nigeria Kaduna from his hide out at the mountain said safety of both pregnant mothers and babies could not be guaranteed as they lacked first aid materials needed to take care of them.

Malam Usman Kwimo however explained that members of that community numbering about five thousand comprising of children young and old are taking refuge on various mountains in their village to avoid being killed by the rampaging armed bandits.

He said the armed bandits who came to Kwimo village on one hundtred and twenty two motorcycles opened fire shooting sporadicaly to scare villagers alsọ looted their shops and household items in addition to destroying some of their properties.

According to him latest attacks on Kwimo community by armed bandits is the third time this year in which sọmetime before now after Ramadan fast when they struck wounded some people and left thirty others killed.

He appealed to both the Federal and Niger state govẹrnment to as a matter of urgency come to their aid by way of deploying security personnels to protect them from undue harrassment and intimidation by bandits.

Secretary to the Niger State Government Ahmed Ibrahim Matane assured Nigerlites of government rediness to do all it can to safeguard their lives and properties.

He said security personnel had been drafted to restore normalcy in some troubled areas.
