House of Representatives has set up an Ad-hoc committee to investigate allegations on the constant release of bandits and kidnappers arrested and handed over to the Police by communities and other security agencies.

The resolution was passed sequel to a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by the house Deputy Speaker, Alhaji Ahmed Idris Wase, adopted by the lawmakers.

Leading a debate, Alhaji Ahmed Idris Wase, expressed grave concern over the compromising attitude of police authorities to various insecurity situation, which he alleged is frustrating the ongoing fight against insecurity.

The Deputy Speaker, described as unfortunate the undermining of citizen’s efforts in ensuring safety through vigilante services and other operations.

He further alleged that due to poor security network in Plateau State, bandits escaping from the far north have found their ways into Wase to kill many innocent people and went free.

The lawmaker however, confirmed that he saw a trending video of two policemen who went to Nasarawa State to arrest some armed robbers and were offered N8 million to release the robbers, but instead got dismissed form service for not cooperating.

In his contribution the house Minority leader Mr Toby Okechukwu, expressed concern that the whole six political zones in the country has been ravaged by the activities of armed robbers, Boko Haram and bandits recording significant number of casualties on daily basis.

Mr Toby Okechukwu, who appreciated the sacrifice of security Operatives, emphasized that the house cannot under any guise allow anybody who is culpable in the situation go free as the nation has witness massive bloodshed in Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto Kaduna and now in Wase, Plateau State.

While expressing her view, house Deputy Chief Whip, Mrs Nkiruka Onyejeocha, expressed worried over Wase killing and urged the House to ensure that all those found culpable are sanctioned no matter how highly placed they are.

Adopting the motion, the House directed the Minister of Defence to initiate a coordinated Joint Security Operation within Wase and adjoining towns located in Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe, Taraba and Nasarawa States, with a view to flushing out bandits and prevent them from escaping to other States.
