The Kano state multi door court house bill 2021 and Kano state water shed erosion and climate management agency bill 2021 had scaled second reading.

Presenting the bills on the floor of the house, during plenary presided over by the speaker Alhaji Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari, the majority leader Alhaji Labaran Abdul Madari explained that if passed into law, the two bills would pave way for the development of the state in various aspects.

He explained that the Kano state water shed erosion and climate change management agency bill would expedite action on the establishment of an agency to tackle erosion and climate change while the multi door court house bill 2021 would greatly enhance decongestion of correctional centers and promote alternative dispute resolution.

The house adopted the second reading of the motions and mandated its house standing committees on judiciary and enviroment to scrutinize the bills and submit reports within a short period.

Similarly, the house had called on the state commissioner of police as a matter of urgency to investigate the alleged shooting of two people by a police officer at Fanisau in Ungoggo local government area during a protest..

The call was sequel to an urgent motion of public importance presented by member representing Ungoggo local government area, Alhaji Aminu Sa’adu Ungoggo, supported by the lawmakers.

He argued that, Kano state urban planning development authority (KNUPDA) was conducting a demolition of structures at Fanisau, where some residents protested due to an earlier agreement to relocate them before the commencement of the work.

Alhaji Aminu said, a police officer attached to KNUPDA shot at the protesters and injured two people.

After careful deliberations the house ordered the immediate suspension of the demolition by KNUPDA and mandated its committee on land and petition to investigate and submit its report on monday 13th December 2021 for further legislative action.
