The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has established a reserve price for licensing at an upcoming auction expected to set in motion the introduction of 5G technology in Nigeria.

Wireless operators request a reduction in the reserve price.

Head of NCC’s Spectrum Administration Unit, Oluwatoyin Asaju said on Thursday that the bid round pricing, which was in the neighbourhood of N75 billion ($197.4 million), would be implemented.

Telecoms requested that the reserve price be dropped to $50 million and the license validity period extended to 20 years, expressing worry over the current economic conditions in the corporate world.
