FG Assures Journalists Safety

Federal Government says it will not tolerate any form of impunity against Journalists and other institutions in the country.

Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Abubakar Malami stated this in Abuja during a policy dialogue on the protection of journalists to mark the 2021 International Day to end impunity for crimes against journalists.

Mr Malami called on journalists to be patriotic in the discharge of their responsibility for the promotion of peace, democracy and development.

He said the government had laudable initiatives for the protection of crimes against journalists in the country through several reforms such as access to easy justice.

On his part, the Acting Solicitor General of the Federation, Mr Mohammed Umar said the aim of the policy dialogue was to brainstorm with relevant stakeholders and come up with workable mechanism to safeguard journalists.

The International Day to end impunity for Crimes against journalists is a day set aside to draw attention to the level of impunity for crimes against journalists.
