Christians in Kaduna observed the Twenty Twenty One International Day for Religious Freedom with a special thanksgiving to God for delivering students in the hands of bandits and prayed for safe return of those still in captivity.

The event was put together by Christian Solidarity world wide with the theme “Sing For Joy, a global campaign to address school abductions and insecurity in Nigeria.

Selected hymns that rhyme with the event were put together to bring solace and to comfort people directly or indirectly affected by Kidnappings in the country.

The convener Mrs. Teman Liti Agera said the main purpose for the event was to celebrate students that have been released from the camp of their abductors and intervene for those still in captivity.

Mrs. Agera explained that the International Day for Religious Freedom gives opportunity for different religious organizations to exercise their faith without interference, intimidation or condemnation.

Some students of Bethel Baptist high School John Anuza Moses, Salama Shuaibu, and Destiny Timothy who have been set free were invited to give testimony at the event where they narrated horrifying experiences, asking government to intervene for the release of 4 of their remaining colleagues still in the hands of bandits.

Pastor Nehemiah Bature who found it difficult to control his emotions prayed to God to show mercy and set those in captivity free.

Notable clerics in the state attended the event which featured praise and worship, testimonies, and special prayers.
