Borno State Government intends to close IDP camps situated within the state capital, Maiduguri.

Governor Babagana Zulum, who disclosed this to newsmen after he had a closed-door meeting with President Buhari 1,said the exercise was expected to end on or before 31st of December, this year.

He said he was at the State House to brief President Buhari on the efforts made by the state government in ensuring the return of internally displaced persons to their ancestoral homes.

Governor Zulum said the state government was also making efforts, in collaboration with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, to continue with the repatriation of Nigerians forced by insurgence to live in neighbouring countries.

To this, according to him, the Nigerian military are providing the state government the needed support, adding that the Chief of Naval Staff has ensured the return of naval base to Baga to deal with eventualities that may arise.

While appreciating President Buhari for his unfailing support to ending the lingering insurgence, and promoting the wellbeing of IDPs, Governor Zulum sought for additional assistance towards curtailing the growing number of ISWAP terrorists operating, especially, in the southern and northern parts of Borno State.
