The Nigeria Army says it has established a department that will fundamentally operate closely with relevant stakeholders with a view to ending security challenges in the country.

The chief of army staff Lieutenant General Faruk Yahya stated this at the Second National Summit of the Nigeria Army Education Corps held in Sokoto state.

He said the army remains resolute in its drive to ensuring security of lives and property of Nigerians.

Lieutenant general Yahya noted that the summit is a platform that will inspire and strengthen the capacity of the army and armed forces to be professionally equipped as well as others stakeholders through coordinated initiative by encouraging vigilance and revelation of vital information to the army and other security agencies.

In a remark, the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Saad Abubakar advised the education sector to come up with modalities that would promote teaching and learning through the use of indigenous languages in the country.

The Sultan also cautioned against allowing religious extremists and extremism to destabilise the country.

The Sultan said Nigerians need to be guided by true teachings of the two major religions that have direct bearing to understanding and tolerance of one another for socio security economic development of the country .

According to him, religious extremism is one of the most fundamental and critical challenges disturbing not only Nigeria but the global community.

He noted that the summit and the choice of theme came at the right time when the country was bedevilled with the banditry, kidnapping and related security issues threatening the peace and survival of citizens .

In his goodwill message, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal commended the army education corps for the choice of theme and stressed the need for the summit not to only dwell on paper work but ensure the implementation of the outcome.
