Zamfara State Police Command has arrested 15 Suspects in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area for criminal conspiracy, inciting Public Disturbance and Riot.
Commissioner of Police, Hussaini Rabiu who revealed this while parading the suspects at Police headquarters in Gusau, said the suspects blocked Gusau-Kaura Namoda Road and embarked on unwarranted attacks, destructions of properties and threatening lives of innocent commuters.
The CP explained that, the police has recovered 4 locally Fabricated Guns, one cutlass, one Catapult, 3 Plugs used for the locally made guns, Rolls of Charms and Six Operational Motorcycles from the suspects.
Hussaini Rabiu said, the Rioters had earlier turned down the security operatives and even attempted to attack them but the police professionally dispersed the Rioters and restored normalcy without losing any life from both sides.
However, he warned that, Police under his watch will not take it lightly with any person or group who tries to disrupt peace implementation initiative in the state and urged parents to take proper control of their children against involvement in any criminal act.
The commissioner disclosed that, the organized crimes in the name of protest were perfected by some conflict entrepreneurs using unpatriotic citizens from Kuryar Madaro and Maguru villages in Kaura Namoda LGA in order to undermine the efforts of the security agencies and the government.
He therefore noted that, the command is conducting discreet investigation using the arrested suspects and other intelligence gathering assets to unravel the circumstances behind the Riot.
