From Bello Wakili (Abuja)

President Muhammadu Buhari has called on Nigerians, especially the elite, to be fair in their criticism of the government.

He made the call in Abuja while receiving in audience the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission, Reverend Yakubu Pam.

The President asked the critics to reflect on diverse nature of the terrible situations threatening every sphere of the country before the inception of the current administration and how it had substantially doused them using the scarce resources available.

He said critics should appreciate that the administration had to struggle paying debts, investing in road repairs and rebuilding, revamp the rail system and stabilise power supply.

On the security situation especially in the northeast, the President noted that half of Borno State was under Boko Haram, while substantial areas in the region had been facing atrocities of the terrorists, but the government had ameliorated the situation.

President Buhari also assured that the welfare of Internally Displaced Persons had been paramount on the agenda of government.
