The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar has expressed commitment of the Force to ensure total elimination of insurgency, banditry and other forms of criminality in the country.
Air Marshal Abubakar made the commitment at a Christmas launch with personnel of the Air Taskforce Operation Lafiya Dole in Maiduguri.
According to the Air Chief, he has maintained the tradition of celebrating chrismas and other festivities with troops in the frontline to foster comradeship and appreciate their enormous contribution and sacrifice to the peace and unity of the country.
He charged troops of the Air Taskforce not to relent in prosecuting the war on terror until victory is achieved.
“We have intensified our anti banditry and other security operations across the country. We shall not relent not rest on our oars until we ensure the security of lives and properties of Nigerians are guaranteed. Let me reassure us all that the procurement of the additional platforms such as Super Tucano, JF-17, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and other additional equipment would certainly be a game changer for our operations”.
Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar explained that Nigeria Airforce has created more than seventeen units across the country in an effort to bring security more closer to the people.
He appreciated President Buhari for providing needed resources, members of National Assembly and the people and government of Borno state government for the enabling environment.
Borno state Governor Babagana Zulum represented by his Deputy Umar Kadafur lauded the Nigeria Airforce for their immeasurable support in securing the state.
He assured of sustainable partnership to end the insurgency.
Commander Air Taskforce Operation Lafiya Dole Air Commodore Abubakar Abdulkadir noted that the Air Taskforce has sustained air operations on hideouts of the insurgents which informed the relative peace in the Northeast.
