Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, says the Armed forces Command and Staff College has carved a nitch for itself as a centre of excellence for the training of middle cadre officers.

The Army Chief stated this in a message to the graduation ceremony of junior course ninety held at Jaji.

Represented by Major General Moses Uzoh, the Army Chief noted that the ceremony marks another milestone of Nigerian Armed forces’ resolve to uphold its constitutional responsibilities.

He noted that the appellation conferred on the graduands translates to more responsibilities in the quality output of the personnel in the field and staff work at the headquarters.

The Army Chief urged the graduands to live above board, guard jealously the high reputation and standard of training associated with the college and put all they have learnt into practice in their respective engagements.

“I am aware that the course curriculum is constantly reviewed to enable students cope with the ever changing environment such as insurgency, terrorism, militancy and banditry amongst others.”I also understand that cultural studies was introduced into the curriculum. This I believe, has further exposed you to the peculiarities of our vast cultural heritage as a nation”

Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai also urged the graduands to uphold the highest standard of discipline such as character, integrity, excellence, service and field work, as well as respect for the rule of law human rights.

Earlier in an address, Commandant of the College, Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Sadick Liman explained that the course was designed to build the capacity of officers with appropriate skills to function as grade three staff officers.

He maintained that the course is also aimed at preparing the students to function effectively as tactical level officers in the Armed forces, ministries, departments and agencies, as well as students of allied countries.

Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Sadick Liman added that the courses is also aimed at developing command analytical and communication skills of students in order to equip them to efficiently operate in single service, joint and combined operations.

A total of Two Hundred and Thirty-one students cutting across the Army, Navy, Airforce, non-military and two international officers graduated after undergoing a twenty-three week training.
