Fifteen out of one hundred and fifty batch ‘b’ stream 2 National Youth Service Corp NYSC members posted to Jigawa state have tested positive for the covid-19 virus.

The information came after they were being subjected to the compulsory test on entry into the camp.

Also, this is in addition to earlier case of fourteen Corp members that were reported to have contacted the virus while eight of the patients have been in one of the isolation centres after they were tested from the last NYSC batch.

The Permanent Secretary of the state ministry of health, Dr. Salisu Mu’azu stated this during a press briefing held in Dutse.

According to him, eight of the victims are males while seven were females.

He said that the state governor has directed for the immediate reactivation of all the three isolation centres to begin the preparation to receive patients.

Dr. Salisu Mu’azu noted that there is likelihood that more cases could be recorded as the NYSC members continue to arrive at the camp.

The Permanent Secretary maintained that efforts are being made to trace those persons that came in contact with the victims with a view to isolate them in accordance with the covid-19 protocol.

It could be recalled that the state had not recorded any new cases of the covid-19 since September this year, adding that the government may impose a lockdown if the people continue to flaunt the basic covid-19 protocol.
