Conference of State Assembly Speakers of Nigeria has assured to enact laws for capital punishment on Banditry and collaborators to address the issue squarely.
The Chairman of the conference, Alhaji Abubakar Suleiman who doubled as the speaker Bauchi State Assembly announced this in Gusau when they visited Zamfara State on condolence mission over the demise of the biological father of Zamfara Speaker, Nasiru Ma’azu Magarya .
Alhaji Abubakar Suleiman explained that the lawmakers have expressed worry over security challenges bedevilling the country in general and assured to provide room for stiffer punishment to anyone found wanting.
The leader of the delegation, who spoke on behalf of the State Assembly speakers and members of the federation, expressed sadness, the demise of late Ma’azu Abubakar Magarya in the hands of bandits.
According to him, the conference has always been in contact with the speaker hoping to hear the happy news, but as Almighty Allah decreed, thus the shocking death of the old gentleman, and regrettably in the hands of the Bandits.
Radio Nigeria recalled that, late Alhaji Ma’azu, also the village head of Magarya, was abducted by the killer Bandits last two months along with some members of his family at Magarya village.
As they condoled the Speaker, the governor and the entire people of the state, also join the thousands of sympathiser in prayers for the soul of our late father and hope that ALLAH in his infinite mercy, will grant him the best abode in the hereafter”
In response, the Speaker Nasiru Magarya expressed deep gratitude for the condolence visit said gesture indicated a great sign of brotherhood, compassion and concern not only for him but for the entire citizens of the state.
He added that whatever Allah had decreed to happen on anybody at any time, would come to pass and that What Muslims must observe was to accept the will of divinity and pray to invoke his mercy.
Among the delegation are the Speakers of Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Yobe and others.
