President Buhari Meets Tambuwal, Bagudu, Emefiele Over Naira Scarcity

President Muhammadu Buhari has met with the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, and Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, and the Chairman of Progressive Governors Forum, PGF, and Governor of Kebbi State, Alhaji Abubakar Bagudu to ostensibly find an immediate solution to suffering brought about by the lingering cash crunch.

The meeting which took place in Abuja, also had Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mr. Godwin Emefiele and the Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, in attendance.

Also present at the meeting was the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Mr. Boss Mustapha, as well as the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof Ibrahim Gambari.

Our State House correspondents reports that although details of the meeting was not made public, it may not be unconnected with the cash crunch situation, propelled by the Naira redesign policy.

Meanwhile, a planned meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and Governors under the aegis of the Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF, has been cancelled.

No reason was given for the cancellation, which was initially scheduled for Tuesday at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The cancelled meeting with Governors was coming four days after the president met with Governors of the APC, when he asked Nigerians to give him 7 days to make consultations with relevant stakeholders to resolve the crisis associated with the naira redesign policy.
