Officials of the Federal Ministry of Works on an inspection tour.

The Federal Ministry of Works says sections two and three of the Abuja-kano highway will be delivered before the end of 2022.

Director of Highway, Construction and Rehabilitation Folorunso Esan made this known when he led a team from the Ministry to inspect ongoing road projects in Kaduna.

He said the contract for the rehabilitation and total overhaul of the 74 kilometres section 2 of the Abuja- Kano highway which stretches from Kaduna to Zaria was awarded by the present administration to make it more motorable.

The Director of Highway stressed that the quality of work done so far had met all laid down requirements.

He maintained that the Federal Ministry of Works would not relent in ensuring that the quality of work on all road projects in Kaduna and beyond was sustained by contractors.

On the Zaria-
Funtua highway which is over 64 kilometers, Director of Highways, North West Wasiu Adetayo Taiwo said the contractor had been fully mobilised to deliver the project as scheduled.

He said work on the Zaria -Funtua and other road projects had progressed smoothly despite security challenges in some communities.

Two motorists Sani Abbas and Suleiman Bala who commended the Federal Government for the projects however called for the construction of speed breakers on the Giwa section of the road to prevent reckless drivers from knocking down children.

Apart from the Kaduna -Zaria and Zaria- Funtua, the team also visited the Kaduna-Panbegwa-Jos road where it was observed that work had progressed as planned.

Meanwhile the team proceeded to inspect section three of the road which is from Zaria to Kano.
