WMD: Kebbi State Reaffirms Commitment to End Malaria

In kebbi state, Malaria is said to be responsible for about 70 percent of outpatients recorded in health facilities mostly reported amongst children under 5, pregnant women amongst others.
The State Commissioner for health, Alhaji Jafar Muhammad stated in his address to mark the 2022 world Malaria Day celebrations in Birnin kebbi.


Alhaji Jafaru Muhammad said to that effect, the state government has made great efforts to end malaria by improving health facilities and collaborating with relevant partners including the Presidential Malaria Initiative PMI.


The Commissioner added that the state government has procured 2.6 million insecticidal nets ready to be distributed to all households within a couple of Months.


Meanwhile the representative of World Health Organisation, Dr. Hamisu Dama called for concerted efforts in sensitizing the populace on measures such as environmental sanitation, preventive therapy for pregnant women, malaria chemotherapy and sleeping inside mosquito nets.

The Coordinator for Breakthrough Action, Mr. Sani Olaniran commended the efforts of government at all levels for the steps taken to prevent Malaria adding that Breakthrough Action will remain partners in that regard saying a lot of interventions and achievements have been made.
