Kano Sets Aside N15B To Boost Health Sector

Kano State Government has identified quality and effective healthcare delivery has been identified as major cardinal objectives of the Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s led administration.

The State commissioner of health, Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa made the assertion while speaking to newsmen after defending the ministry’s 2022 budget at the State House of Assembly.

According to Dr. Aminu Tsanyawa, explained that Kano state executive council had set aside 15 billion naira for the health sector above the Abuja declaration, which stipulates that states should allocate 15% of their total budget to health.

The commissioner also revealed that, the proposed budget for the ministry will focus attention on completion of the state cancer treatment center as well as the establishment of specialist hospitals across the five emirate councils in the state.

He maintained that,the state government had also approved the procurement of medical equipment and consumables for the treatment of infectious diseases, routine immunization, anti natal drugs aimed at reducing infant and maternal mortality in the State.

Earlier, the chairman house standing committee on health, Alhaji Nuhu Abdullahi Acika, said after successful scrutiny of the Ministry’s budget the committee is satisfied with it’s performance in 2021.

Similarly the chairman Kano state scholarships board, Alhaji Mudan Umar Bebeji said the board would commence payment of bursary allowences for students

He said the state government had approved the enrolment of more students into the scholarship scheme to further strengthen the educational system.

Other ministries that were cleared include Kano state ministry of justice, Kano state ministry of information and Kano state ministry of youths and sports.
