FG To Establish 48 Youth Development Centres Across Zones

House of Representatives has called on the Executive arm to introduce additional Programmes that will guarantee the future of the nation’s teeming youth as leaders of tommorow.

Chairman House Committee on Youth and Sports Development, Mr Yemi Adaramodu, made the call when Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Sunday Dare appeared before the Committee to defend the ministry’s 2022 budget.

Mr Yemi Adaramodu explained that although the Buhari administration had created a lot of activities and programmes aimed at improving the lives of Nigerian youths due to challenges of insecurity and the COVID 19 Pandemic the result remains insignificant.

The Committee Chairman also confirmed that the house was committed to providing appropriation that would avail Nigerian youths the opportunity to take their rightful position in Economic activities and national development.

Presenting the budget before the committee, Minister of youth and Sports Developments Mr Sunday Dare, said the Ministry had planned to establish 48 Youth Development Centres across the Geopolitical zones in the country while 12 out of them will be completed in 2022.

Mr Sunday Dare, stressed that Federal Government was actually investing in youth through various Intervention Programmes where over 6000 of them so far benefited from the N75 billion Youths investment fund approved by the President recently.

He said the ministry has developed a loan management system so as to increase the number of beneficiaries, have total control on the policy and open the door for it to access money directly from the ministry of finance.

The minister who lauded the Buhari Government on Youth Development appealed to the lawmakers to assist in passing the Bureau of Public Procurement BPP to enable the ministry impact positively on Nigerian youths.
