NHGSFP : Over Three Hundred Thousand Pupils Enrolled In Kebbi

Over three hundred and thirty nine thousand public schools pupils have been captured under the home grown schools feeding programme of the federal government in Kebbi state.

The State Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA) Mr. Joseph Yaro Machika, disclosed this while speaking to newsmen shortly after inspecting the ongoing enumeration and data capturing exercise of students at Atiku Bagudu Science Primary School Birnin kebbi and Model Primary School Kalgo, in Kalgo local government area of the state.

According to him, the agency in collaboration with state task force team have distributed forms to all the public schools for data capturing of students.

He revealed that over five thousand cooks were registered for the programme.

Mr. Yaro Macika said, the agency had instructed its staff in the field and the National Youth Service Corps members to ensure that all schools be captured for the programme in the State.

He said that the NYSC has thirteen local government areas to capture and the NOA has eight that are faced with insecurity.

The Coordinator of the programme from the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Aminu Abubakar Zaga, said he was in Kebbi state to officially flag off the enumeration exercise and data capturing of students, food vendors and cooks.

He said, the enumeration exercise was aimed at verifying and updating the existing number of beneficiaries of the programme for better effectiveness, transparency and accountability.

Zaga said, the exercise was targeted to reach out to vulnerable Nigerians, widows, poorest of the poor and encourage parents to enroll
their children to school.
