Kano Assembly: Speaker Reaffirms Commitment In Upholding Rule Of Law

The Speaker of the kano state house of assembly Engineer Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment in upholding the rule of law through constitutional review.

Engineer Chidari stated this while briefing newsmen in kano

He explained that the kano state house of assembly had deliberated on the 17 sections provided by the national assembly and had forwarded it to the constitution review committee for approval.

According to him,when passed into law the recommendations will go a long way in uplifting the standard of living and beneficial to all parties.

“The law has made provisions for the amendment of the constitution every four years,it was done in the year 2010,2017,and now in 2021.Kano submitted it’s inputs from the kano state house of assembly which will be beneficial to kano citizens”

The speaker maintained that,the Senate and house of representatives had constituted committees for the constitutional review, Saying, the house of representatives committee had gone round the six geopolitical zones to seek for suggestions from the public,and will forward it’s report for deliberations on the floor of the house.

He pointed out that each of the recommendations had to have the agreement of 2/3 of legislators before passing it into law.

“17 items were presented for review by the committee.Both the Senate and house of representatives committees will present their reports based on the inputs relieved fromeach state and deliberate before assenting to it”

Radio Nigeria recalls that,the house of representatives constitution review committee had visited the six geopolitical zones to seek for people’s opinions on certain issues that need to be reviewed in the 1999 constitution as amended.
