NUT Backs Closure Of Schools In Niger State

Niger state wing of Nigeria Union of Teachers NUT has said that there is no hard feelings over directive by state government for the closure of all public secondary schools in the state.

This is contained in a statement signed and issued to Newsmen by it’s Chairman Comrade Ibrahim Umar and Principal Administrative Secretary General Comrade Labaran Garba in Minna.

It however said that it has received the directive with open arm as proactive measure targeted at safeguarding lives of teachers and students in public schools.

It observed that the closure would distort academic activities and render both teachers and students idle however urged teachers to comply with the directive inview of its anticipated benefits.

The statement stressed the need for teachers to intensify prayers for peace progress and stability of Niger state and Nigeria to achieve maximum results.

While applauding Governor Abubakar Sani Bello and Commissioner of Education hajiya Hannatu Jibrin Salihu for their prompt action also advised state ministry of Education to use the two weeks window period to come up with effective strategies that would guarantee security and safety of teachers and students of public schools in Niger state.
