A new era has begun for the Taraba State Police Command with the assumption of office by CP Edwin Ogbeghagha, psc, mnips, as the 34th Commissioner of Police in the state.

CP Ogbeghagha took over the mantle of leadership on Tuesday from CP Moorkwap Sebastian Dongshal, SM, ICM, psc(+), who retired after a distinguished career in the Nigeria Police Force.

This was disclosed in a press statement signed by the Command’s Ag. Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Victor Mshelizah.

The new CP made it clear that his administration will be uncompromising on crime.

He warned criminal elements and their collaborators that the Command “will remain resolute in confronting crime and bringing offenders to justice.”

According to the statement, CP Ogbeghagha brings “vast professional experience and operational knowledge” to the Command.

His leadership, the Command noted, marks a renewed commitment to strengthening security and protecting lives and property across Taraba.

CP Ogbeghagha assured residents that policing under his watch will be proactive, intelligence-led and community-oriented.

He said the Command will deepen collaboration with sister security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders to tackle emerging security challenges.

To succeed, he called on the Taraba State Government and members of the public to provide timely and credible information on suspicious activities.

“Such information will be treated with utmost confidentiality,” he assured.

The Commissioner reaffirmed that the safety and security of Taraba people remain his top priority. He urged citizens to remain law-abiding and security conscious.

CP Moorkwap Sebastian Dongshal served as the 33rd Commissioner of Police in Taraba State before proceeding on retirement.
