Properties worth one hundred million naira have been destroyed by flood at the Imani community of the Minna South in Niger state.

The incident which occured in the early hours of  today as a result of heavy downpour, had displaced several family members.

Former Chairman of NUJ Niger state Council, Comrade Abdullahi Idris and a Community leader in the area, stated this in a statement issued to Newsmen in Minna the state capital, describing the incident as devastating.

Comrade Abdul Idris however explained that many houses have been submerged while vehicles, electrical appliances and fences have also been destroyed by the unfortunate incident.

He appealed to the Niger state Government to as a matter of urgency come to the aid of the affected persons to ameliorate their hardship, while calling on the Niger State Emergency Management Agency to do the needful as many family members have been devastated by the flood to enable the rebuild their houses.

Comrade Abdullahi Idris called on residents of the area to clear their drainages, dispose waste property and join community sensitization ahead of the rainy season.

This he said was the fifth year flooding has hit the Imani Community with no government intervention in the area.
