The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons has donated medical supplies and nutrition items worth millions of naira to the Kebbi State Government to support vulnerable persons in the state.
This was contained in a statement issued by the North West Zonal Coordinator of NCFRMI, Armiya’u Shuaibu, and made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.
According to the statement, the items were presented to the Kebbi State Ministry of Health, adding that, the donation is part of the federal intervention coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction in partnership with NCFRMI.
Shuaibu said the support was a follow-up to the earlier flag-off for the distribution of relief materials to vulnerable persons in selected states, including Kebbi.
It added that, the consignment includes pharmaceutical products, 3,600 bags of 4kg Tom Brown, and 7,413 sachets of RUTF, noting that, the distribution plan was clearly defined to ensure targeted delivery, as the drugs would be sent only to health facilities in Kebbi North and Kebbi South Senatorial Districts.
The medical supplies handed over include Paracetamol syrup, Lonart tablets and suspension, Emvite C, Zolat, Ciprofloxacin, Ampiclox, Ceftriaxone injection, Gentamicin injection, Artesunate injection, IV fluids, bandages, syringes, mosquito nets, and multivitamins.
Receiving the items on behalf of the state government, the Commissioner for Health, Samaila Yakubu Augie, commended NCFRMI and the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction for the intervention.
The Commissioner assured that the Ministry would ensure transparent distribution in line with the Commission’s guidelines.
