The Petroleum Technology Development Fund-PTDF has re-affirmed its commitment to advancing Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics-STEM education in Nigeria.

Executive Secretary of the PTDF, Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu stated this when he led management of the agency to a high-level engagement with Minister of Education, Professor Tunji Alausa, on the proposed launch and nationwide deployment of the PTDF STEM initiative.

Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu emphasized PTDF’s resolve to strengthen human capital development through early STEM education.

He noted that the initiative was designed to inspire innovation, critical thinking and scientific excellence among Nigerian students.

Part of the resolutions reached was the constitution of a committee chaired by the Minister of State, Education, Dr Suwaiba Sa’eed Ahmad, to work out modalities for integrating the PTDF STEM programme with the Ministry’s digital platforms.

The committee is also expected to ensure proper co-ordination and alignment with the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council-NERDC for curriculum compliance and effective implementation.

The visit underscored the shared commitment of the PTDF and the Federal Ministry of Education towards driving Nigeria’s technological, scientific and industrial advancements.
