The Nigerian Army has reiterated its commitment to strengthening civil-military relations with its host communities.
Commander Infantry Corps, Major General Godwin Mutkut gave the assurance while flagging off a medical outreach programme in commemoration of this year’s Combat Arms Training Week held at Birnin Yero community, in Igabi LGA of Kaduna State.
Major General Godwin Mutkut explained that the programme was held at Birnin Yero community in view of its proximity to the Jaji Military Cantonment, with a view to sustaining peaceful co-existence and mutual support where necessary.
He pointed out that the outreach was intended to promote goodwill and neighbourliness between the Nigerian Army and its host communities.
Also speaking, the Village head of Birnin Yero, Alhaji Usman Aburajab expressed gratitude over Nigerian Army’s continued support to the community.
According to him, the Nigerian Army has remained at the forefront in providing security, medical assistance and other humanitarian services to the community.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to Radio Nigeria noted that the gesture would strengthen and improve their relationship with the military.
Some of the ailments targeted for treatment included malaria, hypertension, diabetes, sore throat, eye infections, ear, nose and throat conditions among others.
The Medical outreach program was jointly organised by the Infantry Corps Centre and Corps of Armour as part of activities lined up for the Combat Arms Training Week 2026.
