The Executive Chairman of the Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Yusuf Kabir, has embarked on a working visit to Dawakin Kudu Model Primary School and Yankatsari Central Primary School in Dawakin Kudu LGEA, where he rewarded pupils who arrived early to school with essential learning materials.
The initiative, according to him, is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen punctuality, improve attendance, and instill discipline among pupils and teachers in basic education institutions across the state.
Yusuf explained that the exercise also serves as a practical means of assessing punctuality in schools , while motivating pupils who consistently report early.
He stressed that punctuality remains a key factor in effective teaching and learning, particularly during early morning hours when core subjects are delivered.
A total of 50 pupils from each school benefited from the gesture, receiving school bags, pairs of sandals, a dozen exercise books, and pencils as reward for their punctuality.
The SUBEB chairman urged the beneficiaries to make proper use of the materials and called on parents and guardians to support the initiative by ensuring timely arrival of children to school.
He highlighted ongoing interventions by the state government, including the construction and rehabilitation of classrooms, provision of instructional materials, and timely payment of teachers’ salaries.
In his remarks, the Education Secretary of Dawakin Kudu LGEA, Musa Sani, praised the SUBEB chairman for his proactive leadership and innovative approach to improving the quality of basic education in the area.
Some of the beneficiary pupils expressed gratitude on behalf of their colleagues, pledging to continue arriving early and making good use of the materials provided.
