The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation has expressed deep shock and sadness over the recent surge of violence in Plateau State, describing the attacks as “senseless” and condemning the killings of innocent citizens.

In a statement signed by the Director-General, Engr. Abubakar Gambo Umar, the Foundation called on security agencies to promptly identify and prosecute those responsible, emphasizing that victims and their families deserve justice, adequate compensation, and comprehensive support. It stressed that urgent steps must be taken to restore peace, order, and harmony in the state, warning that attacks and reprisals must stop immediately.

The Foundation also urged youth leaders, religious and community figures, and political elites to come together to address the persistent conflict. It recommended the formation of a Truth and Reconciliation Commission to hear citizens’ grievances and tackle the root causes of the recurring violence.

Engr. Umar highlighted that “justice remains a critical ingredient for sustainable peace” and called on the Plateau State Government to prioritize conflict resolution for lasting stability.
