Regional Caucus in the House of Representatives has confirmed the escalating insecurity causing serious instability in the political and economic prosperity of the affected zones.
They made the confirmation in their separate submissions during the second day of the special plenary session on prevailing security challenges, organised by the House of Representatives in Abuja.
The second day of the special session was dedicated to receiving recommendations from leaders of the various zonal caucuses on the security situation in their regions, with a view to finding a lasting solution.
In his submission, the leader of the Northern Caucus in the House, Sada Soli, said the abandonment of traditional conflict-resolution mechanisms and the politicisation of national security matters have significantly worsened the situation despite huge financial investments to curb the menace.
Sada Soli, further believed that engaging members of affected communities in the recruitment of security personnel and building trust among one another irrespective of differences while treating security issues would go along way ending the lingering insecurity across the nation.
Also in his submission, former Deputy Speaker and leader of the North Central members in the house Ahmad Idris Wase, described as unfortunate the insensitivity of the nation’s security agencies towards intelligent report until the worst has happened.
Ahmad Idris Wase, who called for a probe on the continued senseless killings of the nation’s military heroes maintained that until proactive action was taken the blood shade will continue in Nigeria.
