House of Representatives has adopted a motion calling for the restoration of Aujara Constituency in the Jigawa State House of Assembly.

The motion, sponsored by Sa’idu Yusuf Miga during plenary, highlighted that Aujara existed alongside Jahun and Miga constituencies before Jigawa State was created from Kano.

Miga explained that a 1998 constituency review by the Independent National Electoral Commission led to the suppression of Aujara, leaving residents without representation in the state legislature.

He also recalled that in 2004, INEC wrote to the National Assembly requesting the restoration of suppressed constituencies nationwide, including Aujara, but the approval has yet to materialize.

The House subsequently referred the matter to its Committee on Electoral Matters for further legislative action.
