The Kaduna State chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has congratulated Nigerian women, particularly women journalists, on the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary, describing them as “pillars of resilience and democracy.”

In a statement signed by its Chairperson, Comrade Sahura Jibrin Maidoki, and Secretary, Comrade Hadiza Bello Abdullahi, the association commended women journalists for their vital contributions to national development through advocacy, education, and amplifying women’s voices in the media space.

The statement also lauded the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for his administration’s strides in various sectors, including education, health, agriculture, women and youth empowerment, infrastructure, and security. NAWOJ noted that such policies are helping to improve the welfare of citizens and promote inclusive development in the state.

“As Nigeria marks 65 years of independence, we celebrate the contributions of women and urge government at all levels to sustain gender-responsive policies, protect press freedom, and foster an environment where women and girls can thrive,” the statement read in part.

NAWOJ Kaduna reaffirmed its commitment to professional excellence, women’s empowerment, and promoting a stronger democratic society through journalism.
