Maigatari Youth Foundation in Jigawa State says it will plant 1,600 tree seedlings during the current rainy season as part of its environmental conservation efforts.
Speaking shortly after a meeting of the forum, the Chairman of the association, Muktari Muhammad Maigatari, explained that the seedlings were donated by the Gumel Emirate Foundation.
According to him, the varieties of the seedlings include Neem, Moringa, Satellite, African locust bean (dorawa)
and Umbrella trees.
Muktari Maigatari said, to ensure the success of the program in the area, two committees have been established for distribution and site selection for planting, and the other for follow up among others.
He said the foundation has secured fruit seedlings which also include guava, orange, pawpaw for planting.
The Chairman expressed appreciation to the family of Retired Colonel Sani Bello for donating 500,000 thousand naira towards the purchase of protective baskets for the seedlings.
Maigatari thanked the patrons of the foundation, stakeholders, and the people of Maigatari for their unwavering support in making the program a reality.
