Preparations have reached advance stage amongst party members in the coalition of political parties towards achieving a formidable force under the Africa Democratic Congress, ADC to rescue Nigeria from becoming a one party state.
A prominent member of the ADC, Mallam Salihu Mohammed Lukman stated this during an interactive session with Newsmen and party stakeholders in Kaduna.
He said Nigerians are faced with the kind of problem that was not imagined when the present administration came on board.
He said the coalition at the national level had negotiated with the ADC, which agreed for a reorganization to bringing new people into leadership positions that led to the emergence of Senator David Mark as the National Chairman and Rauf Arebishola as the National Secretary with other people.
He maintained that a similar arrangement was ongoing at the states level towards building a credible alternative which must begin with discipline.
“I am from Kaduna State. What we need now is humility, not ego. We must engage the existing ADC structure and build with them, not displace them. This is not about hijacking a party. We’re here to strengthen it together,”
“The party must be strong enough to control its members, including future governors or elected leaders.”
Mallam Salihu Mohammed Lukman, therefore appealed for unity and selflessness among members of the emerging coalition using the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as their political platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He insisted that unlike previous arrangement that brought in the APC, the coalition will ensure that all persons elected into positions must be answerable to the party and not to operate above the party.
Also speaking, Chairman of ADC Elder Patrick Ambut said the party was ready to work with sincere and credible people who have vast experience to changing Nigeria narratives from negative to a better one.
“We don’t want a situation where coalition partners walk into the party thinking it doesn’t have a structure before they came so coming into the party will be right i mean to fix yourself in the party structure and not to go through another structure as if we are structureless, i think it’s very essential so whoever is making that mistake should please correct it, we have a structure in kaduna that is spread all over that you have not been hearing about us because we don’t have money but i want to tell you the truth we have a structure.”
Mr. Ambut however, emphasize the need for incomers to maintain decorum and not destabilized the party by pushing their personal interest above party interest.
Also present at the event were Party officials chieftains including, Ahmed Tijani Mustapha, Ibrahim Suleiman and Philimon Kure.
