Jigawa state house of assembly says the legislative arm has more than thirty standing committees sadled with the responsibility to supervise various ministries and agencies to ensure service delivery in the recurrent and capital expenditures made by the executive Arm.

The Chairman of the State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government Affairs, Alhaji Aminu Zakari stated this during an official visit to Babura Local Government Council.
He explained that his committee is mandated to look after local government affairs to ensure good governance at the grass root level.

He said the committee inspect financial and administrative documents such as disbursement sheet from national allocation, bank statement, payment vouchers as well standing committees meeting minutes to inculcate prudence in the management of public funds.
Alhaji Aminu Zakari noted that the visit also provide an avenue for interaction between members of the and stakeholders at local level in order to rub minds and create cordial working relationship between various segments.
A subcommittee led by member representing Guri Constituency, Alhaji Usman Abdullahi Tura, inspected local government rice cultivation project of 50-50 hectares at Garu and Dangoriba Fadama at the cost of 49.500 million naira along with 100 tube wells respectively.
Usman Musari commended Babura local council for complementing the Namadi led administration in empowering the youth through agricultural activities.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Babura Local Government Council Malam Hamisu Muhammad Garu, described the visit as a well known annual exercise by the Legislative Arm for the assessment of local government affairs and called on his staff and members of the Executive Council to cooperate for the success of the exercise.
He stressed the need for people in the area not to relent in offering prayers for the socioeconomic prosperity of Babura Local Government Area, Jigawa State and the country at large.
