The Social Democratic Party SDP has distanced itself from former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasiru Ahmad El-Rufa’i, declaring that he is neither a member of the party nor authorized to represent it in any capacity.

At a press conference held in Kaduna, the Zonal Secretary of the party in the North West, Alhaji Idris Inuwa, alongside other SDP executives, addressed journalists, accusing the former governor of impersonation and political mischief.

Alhaji Inuwa described as fraudulent the recent appearance of Mallam El-Rufa’i at a public event where he reportedly claimed to be speaking on behalf of the SDP.

According to the party, the gathering attended by what it termed a “band of meddlesome politicians” was a deliberate attempt to deceive the public.

“Let it be made unequivocally clear to all: Mallam El-Rufa’i is not authorized, mandated, or recognized by the SDP in any capacity and his actions were carried out entirely without the knowledge, consent, or approval of the party’s national leadership,” the Zonal Secretary said.

He further clarified that neither the National Working Committee, the National Executive Committee, nor any other authorized structure of the party has ever issued a letter of appointment or endorsement to the former governor.

The party therefore called on the general public and political stakeholders to disregard any statements or engagements linked to him in the name of the SDP.

In addition, the SDP announced the immediate suspension of Dr. Umar Ardo, accusing him of promoting the newly formed African Democratic Alliance, ADA, while still leveraging the SDP platform for political mileage.

The statement described the use of the SDP platform without authorisation as a desperate act and warned that any further impersonation would lead to the NEC constituting a special committee to investigate and expose those involved.

The party emphasized that all future engagements or representations must be made through its legitimate structures and duly recognized officers.
