The Coordinator of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRESS) Project in Zamfara State, Alhaji Nasiru Mohammed, has called on livestock farmers participated at a two-day training on Ruminant feed formulation and production to put the knowledge acquired into practice to improve livestock businesses in the country.
He made the call while delivering his remarks at the closing ceremony of the training held in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.
Alhaji Nasiru urged the participants to share the knowledge with fellow livestock farmers for the development of livestock sector in the state and the nation at large.
He commended the participants for their focus and dedication throughout the sessions, noting their genuine interest in learning about animal feed formulation and livestock marketing.
“To all the participants, your commitment, enthusiasm, and dedication to this training are commendable. You are the true agents of change in the livestock sector. The knowledge and skills you’ve acquired are powerful tools, use them wisely, share them generously, and continue to work together towards a more productive and resilient livestock economy in Zamfara State”
“Your role is critical, and your impact will be lasting. We are proud of your efforts and stand with you as partners in progress.”
The L-PRESS Coordinator also appreciated the presence of various stakeholders at the event, including representatives of the Cattle Dealers Association, Livestock Producers Association of Zamfara, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (Zamfara branch), herders, livestock input suppliers, and other professional groups.
He gave special recognition to the women participants, including members of Miyetti Allah, for actively engaging in livestock production.
“This training did not begin today, and we are committed to continuing it to boost livestock production not only in Zamfara State but across the country,”
Alhaji Nasiru further pledged that, the L-PRESS team would continue to engage with livestock farmers regularly to expose them to scientific methods and innovations in animal husbandry.
“As I have repeatedly stated, the L-PRESS project is a World Bank-supported initiative implemented in collaboration with the Federal and State Governments. Our guiding slogan is ‘Enhancing Livestock Resources.’ God willing, we will sustain this kind of training. What we have done here is only the beginning,” he concluded.
Some of the participants who spoke with Radio Nigeria commended the L-PRESS Zamfara team for organizing the training, which helped them learn how to formulate nutritious feed for ruminants such as cattle, goats, and sheep—aimed at improving productivity and enhancing the commercial viability of their livestock ventures.
They also pledged to apply the knowledge gained and share it with others in their communities.
At the end of the training participants have been presented with certificate of participation.
