Kano State Police Command has recorded significant breakthroughs in its sustained efforts to rid the state of all forms of crimes and criminality.
The Command’s Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, disclosed this during a press briefing held at the Bompai Police Headquarters in Kano.
He said the Command has launched a special operation tagged “Operation Kukan Kura,” which aims to detect and proactively nip in the bud any threats of thuggery-related crimes, banditry, kidnapping, drug trafficking, and other social vices in the state.

CP Bakori noted that the operation, which was launched on July 1, 2025, has already recorded significant successes, with 98 suspects arrested and various exhibits recovered.

He said the Command has arrested a total of 98 suspects involved in 21 major cases of armed robbery, thuggery, drug dealings, theft, fraud, and other crimes. The exhibits recovered from the suspects include:6 motor vehicles,8 tricycles,9 motorcycles,42 tubes of red solutions and 35 parcels of suspected cannabis.
Others include 86 bottles of suck and die,10 sachets and 53 pieces of diazepam tablets,16 cutlasses and 98 knives,$10,000 counterfeit US dollars,13 mobile phones,5 motor batteries and 3 motor spare tires.

CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori assured the public that the Command will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of lives and property in the state.
He added that the newly launched Operation Kukan Kura will be integrated into the Command’s existing operational strategies, which include intelligence-led raid operations, visible patrols, and community policing engagements.
