Former governorship candidate under the defunct Congress for Progressive Change CPC in Kaduna State, Alhaji Haruna Sa’eid Kajuru, has called on the Federal Government to launch a thorough investigation into the recent killing of Zaria indigenes in Plateau State.
He made the call while on a condolence visit to families of the victims in Zaria, where he sympathized with those who lost loved ones in the unfortunate incident.
Alhaji Haruna Kajuru, who was former also Accountant General of Kaduna State, condemned the killings, stressing that no individual or group has the constitutional right to take the life of another.
He said the perpetrators must be brought to justice to serve as a deterant to others.
“The constitution does not permit anyone to take the life of a fellow citizen. We must stand by the rule of law and justice,” he said.
The former CPC flag bearer appealed to both the Federal and Kaduna State Governments to provide financial assistance to the bereaved families in order to cushion the economic hardship brought about by the loss of their breadwinners.
Alhaji Haruna Sa’eid Kajuru also used the occasion to call on Nigerians to continue living in peace and harmony, stressing that unity and peaceful coexistence remain critical for the country’s socio-economic development.
The killings in Plateau State have sparked outrage and renewed calls for improved security and accountability in affected communities.
